One woman can throw on a pair of wellies, an old plaid skirt and her grandpa's cardigan and look stylish as all-get-out, while another can wear a $500 dress and look like a two-bit hooker. It's the ability to look put together in anything, without any apparent effort at all.

Style is a our unique vision of attractive. It's the one thing we each have that is our own, every day. Style is how we see ourselves, and then put that out there for others. The power of attraction is bigger than we know, and style is that that which makes a statement for us.

Clothing is just a cover for your authentic self. Style is first and foremost about attitude, and when you carry yourself with confidence, and without hesitation, this trickles down to what you are wearing.

Like most people, I use fashion to be an extension of my personality and personal style. I am a true believer in classic pieces mixed with a few trendier items making up the basics of your wardrobe. A great bag, a killer black dress, some look-at-me heels and a perfectly fitted pair of jeans are all must-haves.

Accessories are the biggest key to personal style. They let your personality shine. A simple white t-shirt and denim skirt can be completely personalized with the right use of necklaces or bangle bracelets or an incredible pair of sandals. Style also incorporates your total self, not just what you are wearing It is the complete package that conveys who you are to the world, therefore makeup and hair are also deeply connected to personal style. It really takes a small amount of effort to put on a little powder, lip gloss and mascara in the morning, and it completely changes the way you look and feel. Just like a good hair day makes you feel like you can conquer the world, so does a freshly painted face. So many women tend to let themselves go when they feel comfortable with their lives and lose their sense of self and style. It is so important to take care of you, because if you aren't, WHO IS?

I wear things that look good on ME! I don‚Äôt care if it would look good on a runway or on the pop star of the moment! I‚Äôm not a size 2 and I own my look by combining flattering monochromatic dresses or pieces with bold, attention-grabbing jewelry! I make sure it looks good on me and works with my personal style ‚Äì which is well-constructed pieces with funky unique accessories! Sure... in high school i caught flak for wearing thrift shop pieces - former leisure suits owned by grandfathers of yesteryear, however, I liked it. I thought it was cool and it ended up shaping my aesthetic and adventurousness!

Style is knowing what works for you, based on your physical characteristics and your lifestyle. It's taking trends and adding bits of them into the mix, making them your own. But most of all it's a way to express yourself, to share your personality, your tastes, even your mood with those around you. We hear talk of "personal style", but style should always be personal. What you wear, walk in, carry, should say something about you.

Style is the that little 'thing' someone has that makes you pay attention. It could be the way she lines her eyes in deep purple, or the way he puts together his casual, work 'look', or the unexpectedness of red converse with a dress, small things that catch your eye and make you take notice. Style is expression of self. My personal style is an eclectic mix of bohemian, surfer, rocker and classic. I am mostly a vintage-wash, skinny jeans, sandals and basic tee kind-of-girl, but don't be surprised to see me in all-out sexy, strappy heels and a flow-y, flower-y dress or classic J. Crew chinos, cashmere cardigan and biker boots. I love to mix it up. I love accessories. It might be layers of necklaces, skinny, gilded bangles and big earrings one day, and a simple, single-charm necklace and many rings the next. For me, accessories are what take a look from simple to wow.

Style is boldness and innovation and a total disregard for the rules. It's spectacularly messy. It's completely, utterly personal. It's not only the clothes you wear, but the color of your hair, the make up (or lack of) you chose, the tilt of your head and the gleam in your eye. To me, Vivienne Westwood is the personification of my style.

Coco Chanel once said, "Fashion fades, only style remains the same". And no one argued with Chanel.

Style is more than double denim trend, clog heels, braided hair or nautical-look. It is about how all those looks and trends compliment our body and personality. I believe WE should wear our clothes rather than let the clothes wear US. Even though I tend to stick to what is in the current season and what everyone is wearing - I make sure that I don't dilute myself in it. I tend to bring my personality out, in whatever I wear - even if the outfit is six years old. I always have a signature accessory, that blends in with the outfit. Something that makes me stand out in a crowd. Personal style is more important than what is "Hot on the runway". We are not runway models with unachievable figures. We are real women with real bodies and fabulous personalities. And for me, style kicks "fashion" in the backseat.

Personal style is the choices you make to feel confident, beautiful, balanced and special. It's about looking contemporary, yet classic, being unique and adding your personal twist to current trends. Be daring, but do so with confidence; decide to live outside your comfort zone and then embrace it! Getting dressed up should be fun and playful -- never take yourself, or fashion, too seriously.

Style isâ€šÃ„Â® internal. It's more than your clothing it's about your outlook on life. I view it as a meditation, a thought process. I don't mean to wax poetic, but when we exude Character, Confidence and Charisma, that energy draws people to us. Style is genuine. It's not something we can copy from someone else. It's based on your own personality, whether you're a Trendy dresser like AndrâˆšÂ© 3000 or Jude Law, a Sophisticated dresser like Bryan Ferry or George Clooney, or a Laid-back dresser like Viggo Mortensen or Bruce Springsteen. When we dress to our personality, we are dressing to our true self and that is the best way for us show the world who we really are.

Style to me is a form of expression. If there was ever an equation to define style it would read Image + Confidence = Style.

This means if someone can wear something and portray it in a way that influences others to imitate the look, then you have created a trend or overall sense of style. Those who have the power to do this are truly the gatekeepers of the industry. They create style instead of just following it.

People say that clothes present an opportunity to express yourself and talk about 'having style' as if it's a thing that can be pinned down. Clothes can be purely practical or purely frivolous. Trends can suit or not suit. But style? Style is ephemeral - it's about who a person is, what they're really like - or what they want the world to think they're like. A person who has style is a person who knows and wears what suits them and will tend to dress knowing what they want to project that day, it's true, but it's not about slavishly following the sort of rules that say people of x shape should avoid styles a, b and c. It's about suiting their personality just as much as their body, about looking great, feeling fantastic, and being their fabulous self whether that means wearing 50s dresses or jeans and Converse - or both - when the fancy takes them.

Style is a simple idea to me. Essentially style is the ability and confidence to feel comfortable in your own skin. Fashion has little to do with style, other than being a method by which to achieve it. The most stylish people I know may have great shoes, but really they are the people to exude that sense of self-belief. A stylish person will look just as good naked as when they are dressed!

To me, style is what you put on the outside to express who you are on the inside. Style encompasses everything, from head to toe, that gives the world a glimpse into your persona. Personal style can be influenced by the seasons and color trends, but at the end of the day, style is all about being confident... being you. It's not about having the latest "it" bag or spending two months' salary on a pair of shoes. When it comes to fashion, my style isn't based on what other people think - it's what I like to wear and what I feel comfortable in.

Marc Jacobs recently said to Instyle Magazine, "I'm a big believer in wearing whatever you want, whenever you want. No one dictates fashion to the women I know." I couldn't agree more. I've always thought that fashion and being stylish was more about the confidence and less about the clothes. The confidence to mix bold colors, the confidence to wear the biggest cocktail ring or even socks with platformsThe idea is to express yourself and enjoy yourself. I love to mix unexpected pieces, old and new, different eras, different styles and definitely different price ranges. For me, it's not about a cluster or being over the top. To me, style is expressing your personality and staying true to yourself. One can wear all the latest brands and logos, however will never be "in style" unless it reflects you. Style is feeling confident and reflecting that confidence on the outside whether it be with a $1200 outfit or a $50 outfit. Its also emphasizing your best qualities whether it be physical or not. Often times I get inspired by other people on the street, bloggers, celebrities, glossies, but I turn that inspiration into my own style, but adding my signature chunky jewelry or pop of color, or adding other twists to the outfit to make it fit my body type. Style is essentially taking an article of clothing/fashion and making it your own. Style is my own personal brand. How I want the world to see me, or how I want to express myself to world whether it be through the clothes I wear or how I decorate my house. My style is essentially marketing my personality.

To quote Yves Saint Laurent: ‚ÄúFashion fades; style is eternal.‚Äù

What is the difference between fashion and style? Fashion is what designers present to us each season as the ‚Äúnew‚Äù look. The fashionista will follow each new trend despite how it looks on her. Her motto is, ‚ÄúIf it comes in my size, I need it.‚Äù The person with style picks only those things that work with her personal style, despite how fun it would be to wear certain fashions.

As a certified image consultant, my goal is to help each woman discover her own style and learn how to choose fashions that support their style. It is knowing yourself from the inside out. You can have two ladies with similar builds, similar coloring and similar age but they might have totally different styles.

We can determine a client‚Äôs line and body shape, proportion, scale, and texture. We can show them how to choose styles to camouflage or accentuate different areas of the body to give the illusion that they have that ideal proportion and shape. We can teach them how to choose the right scale or whether one can wear texture. These skills are similar from one lady to another.

Conversely, identifying the right personal style is much more than that. For example, color analysis might indicate that two ladies could wear the same color palette. In reality, a lady with a strong personality and persona should wear deeper, bolder colors than a retiring person. In fact, the retiring person might be more at home in neutrals. Each is being true to her personal image. This is where understanding who your are deep down inside really makes the difference.

Let‚Äôs look at some famous people who have or had a great understanding of their true personal style.

COCO CHANEL designed for herself. Her clothes were always right for her. She was defied the corseted, elaborate dresses and hats of her day and went for wear ability and simplicity. Then she adorned her clothes with more simple designs of jewelry.

JACQUELINE KENNEDY ONASSIS had a true understanding of her personal style. She chose simple, elegant lines. Some of her dresses looked almost like sculptures. These designs supported her angular body and her reserved elegance. Even though she was in her early thirties when she became First Lady, she always dressed appropriately for the position as well as her style.

DIANE VON FURSTENBERG has very strong coloring and a personality to match. Her designs often are in colors and strong prints. No one can imagine her in a soft pink dress with ruffles. She understands who she is and supports that image in how she dresses herself.

LAURA BUSH also really understands her personal style. Her choice of classic clothes are perfect for who she is. There is nothing extreme about her. She is reserved but always impeccably groomed and appropriate for the occasion.

RENEE ZELLWEGER is another example of someone who knows herself. Since I haven‚Äôt studied her as much, this observation may not be quite as accurate. Her small, curvy, frame is beautifully showcased by the feminine, romantic dresses she chooses for awards event. Unlike many other stars who look like a different person at each ceremony, Renee works with Carolina Herrera to design her awards dresses. Ms. Herrera‚Äôs designs are elegant, refined and feminine. Perfect for the image of Ms. Zellweger. This indicates to me that she understands her personal style.

The woman with style understands who she is, knows how to work with her natural attributes and chooses clothing that is both age-appropriate and complements her as a total person. Designer Leo Nardeucci summed it up nicely. ‚ÄúNotice the woman first, and after than what she is wearing.‚Äù

Style is one of the most authentic interpretations of your self. Its personal and it doesnt always have to be about fashion, rather style transcends trends and can (and should!) infuse itself into other aspects of your life - whether it be decorating your apartment or getting a haircut that suits you perfectly and has been individualized for a look that you feel proud of. Style is about presenting yourself (and the things in your world) genuinely and thoughtfully.

Style is about looking extraordinary and making an impact without violating your persona or looking inauthentic; when you have style, heads turn and you own the room.

Being "in style" is not the same as being stylish. Wearing what's in style for the moment may not make you look better.

least 80% of the population in the world has cool skin, so they don't look as good in all those upcoming fall colors - which are actually grunge colors. Most people look best in bright cool colors - jewel tones, for example! "line means everything from head to toe, including the shape of your eyebrows (Lots goes wrong here!) and the shape of your shoes (peasants have wide fat feet, aristocrats have slender feet, so who wants round toe shoes?).

I draw a very distinct line between fashion and style. For me, fashion is about art, about playing with shape and colour and texture to create a thing of beauty. Fashion is about escapism. Style, on the other hand, is about choosing inspiring elements of fashion ‚Äì be it the latest catwalk collection or a vintage cut, and incorporating it into your look as a means of expressing your own personal tastes and aesthetic ideals. Style is about finding out what suits you and using that knowledge to create your chosen persona in the wider world. Style is a reflection of who you are inside as well as out. Style is eternal.

I think a lot of people are afraid of 'style'. To me, style is having the conviction to wear just what you like - what you feel best in, regardless of trend or societal norms. Personally, I love dressing to my mood. Every day is a different character - a different element of my personality is highlighted. One day I feel like rocking an LBD; another day a ballerina look; perhaps a cow girl-inspired outfit on another. Some don't understand a closet full of clothes and 'nothing to wear', but if I'm not 'feeling' my outfit, then I'm not going to wear is as confidently as one that suits who I am that day. At the same time, I've been told countless times that only I could pull off a particularly strange/bizarre piece. I don't think that's true. I think my love of the strange garment in question gives me the confidence to carry it off and make it look stylish.

WHAT IS STYLE? Style is a true interpretation of who you are reflected on the outside through your complete head-to-toe look. It is as unique as you are. It makes us look our best by complimenting our body. It makes us feel confident and inspires us to do great things.

WHAT IS FASHION? Fashion is dictated by style makers. It's what is "in" or "out" at any one given time. Simply put, it's the latest and greatest of what's coming down the runway. It's not always in sync with what makes us look our best.

what you wear in an outfit should be stylish - classic, fit you well, the other 10-15% should be fashionable - trendy, of the moment. This keeps your look current, while complimenting your figure. If you dress 100% classic, you can easily get bored because you look the same today as you did 10 years ago. Only pick those fashionable trends that work for you.

Style for me is a statement. It's a reflection of my personal aesthetic and a playful experience. Style is also a fun experiment and a way to express myself!

Style is walking out the door knowing something looks good on me. Style is attention to detail and making conscientious decisions about how to present myself. Style is having all the elements of a garment and look in alignment with inner confidence. I can live with a pared down wardrobe, but good shoes and accessories are a must for style. Some people say style is inner beauty, and I agree with that insomuch as it gets reflected in wardrobe choices. Style can be being attracted to things you would never wear, but the pleasure of seeing them enlivens your own sense of taste. Style is when something is tailored to me and my figure. Style also means passing on something (maybe with pleasure, maybe with reluctance), because I know it's not right for me. Style is confidence.

Before my very first gig as a jazz singer I went shopping for something awesome and diva-ish to wear. I must have tried on over 30 dresses, short, long, in every style you can imagine, all sexy and glamorous. The one I settled on, though, was a very simple Little Black Dress: above-the-knee length, skinny spaghetti straps at either side of a wide cowl neckline, ruching up the left side. The fabric is a drapey knit, the shape form-fitting, but not at all clingy.

I feel that style is an extension of your personality. It can reflect on how you feel that day, I find fashion and style can be liberating, enabling you to play a character or give you a confidence boost. Though fashion trends change from season to season I often find key eliments of 'My style' working along side a trend giving a look my own twist.

I think that style is the definition of your personality which you speak to the world without ever saying a word. It's an expression of where you are, and therefore who you are, in a blink of an eye.

My personal definition of style is a combination of mixing the trend with a healthy dose of sofistication, grown-up comfort, great accessories and a sprinkle of confidence on top. This mixture pulls off every outfit I create from the office-to the beach-to date night!

Style is not about wearing the latest trends, buying only designer brands or trying to be the most impressive in a room. Style is all about having confidence in what you wear, wearing it well and feeling comfortable in your own sense of being. Of course, a signature piece like an Hermes scarf or your own signature lipstick shade never hurt!

Style, in one's clothing wardrobe, is taking into account one's personal likes, coupled with the realities of one's body, to come up with a purposeful and distinct look.
